2010 Stewardship Campaign – Week 3

October 10-11, 2009

“God will always make you rich enough to be generous at all times so that many will thank God for your gifts.” (2 Corinthians 9:11)

We are well into the 2010 Stewardship Campaign now.

Even though we are running the 2010 Stewardship Campaign a little differently this year than in past years, Father Dick still gave us a lot to think about in last weekend’s homily. He compared our responsibilities at St. Michael’s to those we had and have as members of our own families. His words centered around the thought, “What do we bring to the table?”

Our results after two weekends continue to run behind prior years in terms of number of completed pledge forms received. As of the end of the weekend, we had received only 61 forms. Better news is that our average annual pledge amount is up significantly this year. Our current total pledge amount is $120,030. This tells us that the people who are completing the form are hearing our message about covering our expenses with more reliable sources of income and making strides toward a balanced budget.

This year, our theme is Action. 2010 is a year to put into action all the things we have been discussing at the many meeting conducted over the summer to determine St. Michael’s future.

If you have not yet completed your 2010 Stewardship Pledge form, we urge you to show your support for our parish and give the planners and the staff the information they need to make good decisions about this year’s budget.

We are challenging ourselves this year to increase our regular giving to the Offertory collections so that we can approach the goal of a balanced budget.  The goal for 2010 is $750,000. The difference between where we are right now and that goal is five dollars more per person attending Mass each weekend.  Just five dollars more.

The 2010 Stewardship Campaign officially ends this weekend. There have been numerous messages at church, in the Bulletin and on this web site to keep you informed about the state of our finances. Won’t you please bring your completed form back to Mass this weekend?

Stewardship, however, is not just about money. The many programs run at St. Michael’s in Old Town depend on you to make them happen. Consider volunteering for one or more of these programs and see how your life changes.

Download a copy of the 2010 Stewardship brochure to make your pledge and to see where you can become an active part of the programs at St. Michael.  You can also use your credit card on our safe server to make an instant contribution today.

Thank you very much for all you have done for our parish.

Now is the time for action!
