SCHOOL STARTS TWO WEEKS EARLY THIS YEAR! STUDENTS RETURN ON AUGUST 22, 2022
So we have to, too! St. Michael’s Human Concerns & Needs Commission will again be collecting school supplies to be distributed to the Manierre School, an inner-city school just south of North Avenue, and to Casa Romero, an after-school program in the Back of the Yards neighborhood. We’re in touch with both to determine their greatest needs. Last year you responded amazingly to the need to give about 450 children the tools to learn.
The list below includes the items most in demand, and we’ve created an easy Wishlist if you like to shop on Amazon. The best prices we’ve found are often in-store sales at Staples, Office Depot, Target, and Walgreens. We’re happy to do the shopping and schlepping, using sales, coupons, and gift cards purchased through St. Michael’s and Office Depot’s cash back to schools program. To help you shop, both groups have given us lists of the items most needed by students:
backpacks, earbuds, divider sets for 3-ring binders, composition books (both college and wide ruled), colored pencils, spiral notebooks, plastic sheet protectors, erasable and permanent pens, pencils. rulers, glue sticks and bottled glue, scissors, erasers, two-pocket folders, looseleaf paper and boxes of crayons.
For the teachers, who often have to purchase their own supplies, they are in need of copy paper, dry erase markers and easel pads.
