St. Mike’s Book Club will meet next on January 19, 2023, at 6:30 PM in the Parish Center. This special meeting will feature the award-winning book Burying the Lede, by Joseph LeValley. Burying the Lede is the first in a group of five mysteries-thrillers written by Joseph, who will join us to lead the discussion and share how he became interested in writing mysteries.
Burying the Lede focuses on a horrific double murder in small town Iowa which leads to the arrest and trial of the young man who owned the murder weapon. A reporter for the local daily paper doesn't believe the man is guilty, and his search for the truth sparks a chain of events with tragic consequences. Undaunted, he pushes on to uncover the most important facts - the story's true "lede." Burying the Lede has it all -- mystery, courtroom drama, romance, action, tragedy, villains, and heroes. Throughout the book, Joe draws on his real-life experiences as a newspaper reporter—photographer to create a narrative with compelling details about the worlds of newspapers and the criminal justice system. In addition to journalism, Joe also had a long career in health care administration and is an accomplished musician and public speaker. Mr. LeValley will be happy to sign books for those who bring their copy.
The meeting is free (you do not need to be a member of the book club) but an R.S.V.P. is requested to [email protected]. Light snacks and wine will be served.
