A parish is a community of believers and a spiritual family that provides a place to worship, grow spiritually, put your faith into action, and use your gifts of time and talent as disciples of Christ.
Today, St. Mike’s – one of more than 300 parishes serving Chicago’s nearly 2.2 million Catholics – is the spiritual home to more than 675 households. Many are from the city’s vibrant Old Town community, but others come from many communities throughout Chicagoland, often because of long-standing family connections with the parish.
Of course, at any Mass, you’ll also find many visitors from far and near, St. Michael’s is known to have a wide range of international visitors on any given Sunday.
Recently, a new chapter was opened in the parish’s history, as Cardinal Blase J. Cupich announced the creation of a series of parish groupings, to help them better plan for the future, share projects and events, and serve their parishioners. St. Michael in Old Town’s grouping includes the combined Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph parish, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Josaphat, and St. Vincent de Paul.
